FILM SYNOPSIS
Becoming Taylor is an 11-minute character-driven documentary that blends intimate interviews with observational cinéma vérité to follow young boxer Taylor Jackson as mentorship, discipline, and community shape her journey toward adulthood. Through the voices of his family and mentors, the film explores the transformative impact of positive role models, perseverance, and the pursuit of purpose.
FILMMAKER BIO
Rahim Handy is a Dallas-based documentary filmmaker, producer, cinematographer, and founder of Clear Motion Films. He is currently pursuing an MFA in Documentary Production & Studies at the University of North Texas. His work focuses on character-driven nonfiction stories exploring resilience, family, mentorship, justice, and community. His documentary short Becoming Taylor had its world premiere at the Oak Cliff Film Festival and has also been officially selected by the Urban Film Festival (Miami), Detroit Black Film Festival, and the San Antonio Black International Film Festival.
