Celebrating Dr. John Henrik Clarke is the perfect way to begin our #SABIFF2026 theme: History upRising! This featured documentary film marks its 10-year anniversary presentation at the festival, and there is no better way to honor the occasion than with Dr. Clarke’s student and mentee, Anthony Browder. Browder regards the late Dr. Clarke as a “Great Master Teacher.” In tribute to his mentor’s legacy, Browder curated The Clarke Enhanced History Project in Washington, DC—his home base. This seven-year initiative includes 16 murals documenting over 8,000 years of African excellence, celebrating the enduring impact of Dr. Clarke’s scholarship and vision.
