Instructor: Ya’Ke Smith Filmmaker, Professor, UTSA (Austin) Ya’Ke Smith, known for his unflinching and veracious style of storytelling, is a rising voice in independent cinema. His films have received worldwide acclaim, screening and winning awards at over 100 film festivals. Ya’Ke has experience and expertise in a wide variety of film and television. A SA native, Ya’Ke graduated with his B.A. from the University of The Incarnate Word, and received his M.F.A. from The University of Texas at Austin’s film program, where he is currently an Associate Professor of film. Variety magazine named him one of the best film educators in the world. |

Films, Food and Harmony are definitely ingredients to heal the mind-body and spirit. We will also introduce a new local award signature award entitled the UBUNTU Community Award, a Zulu philosophy that means "I am because you are.” It is power born from the love of others. The winning individual or organization exemplifies the transformative impact on lives through the work they practice in the humanities, history, arts, or culture.
