FILM AS SOCIAL EMACIPATION (Film Forum)	Instructor: Ya’Ke Smith Filmmaker, Professor, UTSA (Austin) Ya’Ke Smith, known for his unflinching and veracious style of storytelling, is a rising voice in independent cinema. His films have received worldwide acclaim, screening and winning awards at over 100 film festivals. Ya’Ke has experience and expertise in a wide variety of film and television. A SA native, Ya’Ke graduated with his B.A. from the University of The Incarnate Word, and received his M.F.A. from The University of Texas at Austin’s film program, where he is currently an Associate Professor of film. CINEMA ​UNDER THE STARS (Community Outdoor Park Festivities * Film * Fun!)	​Feature Showcase: THE BEAUTIFUL STRUGGLE a romantic comedy by Texas Filmmaker, Rock White The Filmmaker will be available to introduce the film. A romantically drained man meets an adorably forward woman whose compelling personality invites him to open himself back up to love as he takes a chance on authenticating a valuable painting that could accelerate his financial goals, or ruin him for years to come. This event is filled with Wellness from cinema to health information tables, fitness festivities and fun. 10/6 SUNDAY GLORY SUNDAY AWARDS BRUNCH	SABIFF 2024 concludes with our 6th year’s Sunday Brunch which praises Filmmakers, and creatives on Works well done. Films, Food and Harmony are definitely ingredients to heal the mind-body and spirit. We will also introduce a new local award signature award entitled the UBUNTU Community Award, a Zulu philosophy that means "I am because you are.”  It is power born from the love of others. The winning individual or organization exemplifies the transformative impact on lives through the work they practice in  the humanities, history, arts, or culture.
