Learn more about - Story Corps .
StoryCorps is committed to the idea that everyone has an important story to tell and that everyone’s story matters. Our mission: to help us believe in each other by illuminating the humanity and possibility in us all — one story at a time. Since our founding in 2003, we’ve helped nearly 700,000 people across the country have meaningful conversations about their lives. These recordings are collected in the U.S. Library of Congress and in our online archive which is now the largest single collection of human voices ever gathered. And while our stories are broadcast weekly on NPR to over 12 million listeners, StoryCorps is an independent nonprofit, sharing select stories with the public through our podcast, animated shorts, digital platforms, and best-selling books. |
Storycorps Brightness in BlackWorkshop:
re-FRAMING IMAGES * re-Claiming Your Story SABIFF is happy to bring NY to SA! Kelvin Phillips the Program Director of "StoryCorps Brightness In Black will conduct an interactive workshop on imagery and how to recognize how Black & Brown people are portrayed in the media, and how to reFrame the narrative. BRIGHTNESS IN BLACK IS AMPLIFYING BLACK VOICES. BIB is a celebration of truth-telling, a showcase of the richness and complexity of Black life in America -- with your stories front and center. For too long, Black experiences have often been presented through a limited lens, missing the full spectrum of our humanity and experience. Which is why Brightness in Black is handing the mic to the Black community across the country and inviting us to share our personal stories of aspirations, connection, triumph, resilience, and gratitude."
