sABIFF 2025 SALUTES
BLACK EXCELLENCE
Awards Evening — Honoring Innovation, Activism, and the Spirit of Ubuntu
As 'Soul Saturday' comes to a close, we gather for an evening that celebrates the heart and soul of our festival — our filmmakers. This awards ceremony recognizes the Films-In-Competition and honors talented Creators whose powerful works shape culture, spark dialogue, and inspire change.
In the spirit of Ubuntu — the Zulu philosophy meaning “I am because you are” — we also celebrate courageous Black thought leaders from Texas. These honorees have led transformative work across Spirituality, History & Culture, and Law & Politics, consistently advancing equity, truth, and justice.
Ubuntu teaches us that through compassion and connection, we find our shared humanity and power. Tonight, we honor those who live that truth — through art, action, and unwavering commitment to community.
