This year’s SABIFF 2025 theme, ACTIonVISM, puts a spotlight on action—using film as a powerful catalyst for justice and social change. We invite artists to envision and ignite ACTION, raise awareness, and transform their art into activism as a source for good.
Everyone holds the power to be a change-maker in their community. Through creative expression, Artists, Filmmakers, Creatives and anyone else can make a meaningful impact—by speaking out against injustice, reading banned books, educating ourselves on accurate African and African American history, and crafting stories that center social justice and representation. Information is power!
Other suggested ways to link art and activism—or 'ARTivism'—include:
SABIFF proudly serves as a virtual and local platform to empower filmmakers and drive dynamic vision of storytelling forward. We are committed to exposing audiences to a wide array of narratives, perspectives, and representations of Black people across the global Diaspora—stories that have historically been distorted, overlooked or underrepresented. SABIFF is a space open for everyone to experience, engage with, and embrace the richness and range of Black cinema. SABIFF 2025 will take place over the course of 4-days, both in-person at select San Antonio venues on the Eastside and downtown, as wel as online at sabiff.tv.
Don’t miss SABIFF 2025 monthly online screenings, and be sure to explore our .TV platform and YouTube Channel.
Follow SABIFF on social media—we’ll follow you back! Let’s continue to uplift, inspire, and take action through the power of film that proudly magnifies Black stories, images, voices, subject matter and perspectives.
