If you naturally gravitate towards the skillset of writing, drawing, IT, computers, graphic arts, or gaming, this festival is for you. Our participants from across-the-globe, have opened doors traditionally shut, to career pathways for aspiring Black and Brown Creatives to enter into this magical animation world, where fiction & fact merge with fantasy. Incorporating diverse cultures, images and voices into the world of animation brings beauty, brainy, bold, and bad-ass-ness to the Art of moving images.
SABIFF was compelled to present animation from the lens that often times has a minimal aperture reading to the outside world. No marginalization in our sphere, SABIFF 2022 is hybrid this year with lots of impactful offerings. We start, and end our celebration with Disney legends in their own rite, who have added their nuances to this household brand. In the middle, our days are filled with our International FILMS IN COMPETITION by filmmakers around-the- world, and a wealth of animation studios, producers, illustrators, executives, professors, and talented Creatives from: the US, Jamaica, Kenya, Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco, who share their cultural perspectives, stories, journeys, and the need for equity, diversity, and inclusion in the animation industry. Defined as the state of being full of life or vigor, ANIMATION with an added touch of blackness is quintessence, enriching, and full of nourishment for the soul. Join us in our beautiful city of San Antonio, or on our sabiff.tv platform; however your partake, ... no worries, we got ya!

The MISSION of the San Antonio Black International Film Festival (SABIFF), is to showcase quality film genres indicative of vast Black experiences, advocate for, and support filmmakers of African descent. We expose audiences to a myriad of subject matters, stories, voices, and diverse images of Black people throughout the global Diaspora that have been historically under-represented. SABIFF activities are made possible by grants, donations, by audience support. Please consider a generous tax-deductible donation to keep Black Subjects, stories, images, and voices alive and thriving in SA and across the world-wide-web.
DONATE TO SABIFFIn 2018 the seeds for SABIFF were planted by native San Antonio, filmmaker/founder, Ada M. Babineaux. The state of Black film inefficiency at festivals in the ‘Alamo City’ sparked a group of community members to joined together to cultivate an annual Black Film festival, and affirm that Black Films Matter all around the world. So, if you enjoy seeing fresh stories that reflect a vast Black culture, documentaries that expose you to historical events, new places, fascinating people, and interesting topics; and filmmakers, and industry thought leaders that challenge you to think outside of your comfort zone, then please consider supporting our festival. We need you to be a consistent part of our audience. Your contributions are the water and the sun that will keep this platform growing with the curation of diverse films, impactful events, workshops, and discussions that teach, inform, and expand your world view. Please consider donating to SABIFF today to fertilize, pollinate, and yes, grow SABIFF to a bountiful Black & Beautiful harvest in San Antonio, and beyond.
