Description: The Mecca of Comedy is a full length documentary (119 min.) which centers around the fact that Washington, DC (or the DMV) is home to several of the biggest names in comedy (e.g., Wanda Sykes, Dave Chappelle, Martin Lawrence, Tommy Davidson). The documentary will chronicle the unique journey of comedians from the DMV to superstardom, while exploring how/why the DC area has produced so many comedy legends.

Parrish Smith Parrish Smith is an Award-Winning Producer, Director, Cinematographer, and Published Author. He has shot numerous short and feature films, commercials, documentaries, and music videos. His credits have aired on networks such as Netflix, BET, TV One, Bounce, MTV, Showtime. His last documentary "The Scroll" (T.D. Jakes, Shirley Caesar, Noel Jones, Marvin Sapp) was acquired by UpTV and aired on Aspire and Netflix. "The Scroll" screened at over one hundred venues nationwide including film festivals, churches, and other venues, and has achieved major national and international success. In addition, "The Scroll" caught the eye of Kensington Publishing and was adapted into a self-help book. |
