Description: New York's famous hip-hop dance team is having it's annual auditions today! Tia (Emma Youte) is a passionate dancer who is ready for her shot but time is not on her side. She only has twenty minutes to make it on time! That is until she meets Benny Boombox (Veronica Street), an old-school hip-hop "oldhead" with a funky boombox. Benny promises to help Tia on one condition, press "play" on the boombox. With one click, they soon go on a sci-fi journey through the evolution of hip-hop and the history of dance.
Filmmaker Bio:
Sultan Ali Jr. His pursuit of knowledge began at a young age when he was exposed to the wonders of media. Being raised in southern Canada and New York City, he quickly learned how his identity as an African-American male was perceived as distorted and flat. To create a change, he started directing and producing his own work which soon found accolades and awards from NAACP, NBC, Hip Hop Film Festival, Manhattan Film Institute, and more. His experience with film and TV production came from his time working both behind set and in-office with entertainment companies such as Netflix, HBO, Disney, UTA, Kunhardt Films & ABC. Sultan holds a Bachelor of Arts, with a concentration in Film Production from Brooklyn College. |
