Fruit tells the story of how the power of mentoring can shift the narrative of the young black male. The film explores THE SKIN YOU’RE IN is a multipart series exposing America’s racial health disparities epidemic. In this pilot episode (SOMETHING ABOUT BROWNSVILLE), Tulane University research scientist Dr. Thomas LaVeist returns to his roots in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY to investigate why Brownsville has the lowest life expectancy of any community in New York.
